SAFEST – Strategia per l’Amministrazione di Freni Elettro-attuati e Sistemi di Trazione – is An innovative control system for one or more electric motors, integrated with an electro-actuated braking system. The aim is to optimize the electrical exchanges between the electric motor and the brake, maximizing the effects of regenerative braking (RB) available to the electric motor and ensuring the performance of the vehicle’s braking. The system takes into account critical parameters to maximize braking efficiencies, such as the temperature of the critical brake component or the battery or motor.
Efficiency is the key of SAFEST, as it is always more important to keeping the battery exchanges between battery, motor, and brakes. SAFEST can integrate multiple control logics into one, for obtaining the most suitable control strategy for each situation, combining safety and efficiency.
